Sandy Bridge mini-itx Combination Pack Performance Test

The test shows mini itx combination pack is more than a mere audio and video player. It could tremendously raise work efficiency.

Although without accurate measuring equipment, I will ensure the testing process is simple and concise, with data presented clearly.




Test Content

Using Adobe® Premiere Pro CS5.5 (trial version) software to combine 4 movie clip files (720 × 576) into a 1080P (1920 x 1080) file, like the monitor in the security control room showing the four locations being monitored under the surveillance system.

Length of video: 3 minutes. 

The result is the amount of time required to finish the job.

CPU temperature was also recorded.

Evidence of the power of Intel® Quick Sync Video Technology is also shown below. Two different hard wares were being tested.

Results from the above showed overclocking could raise work efficiency to over 25%. If combining Sandy-Bridge’s unique Intel® Quick Sync Video Technology in using Premiere for video editing, efficiency will be raised three times.

However, when CPU is in full load, temperature of the computer will be high, with or without overclocking.

In 1a test, with or without overclocking, flashes even appeared on the video, affecting work quality. The problem could be easily solved with proper cooling accessories and good ventilation.
